Kate Maddison BA Arch is a freelance artist and a co-founder and director of Chrysalis Arts. She has a degree in Architecture, and works as a lead artist and project manager with wide-ranging skills in the design, production and installation of public artwork. She has a broad experience gained over 30 years of collaborative work practice with architects, landscape architects, structural engineers and other artists and design professionals. She has a detailed knowledge of manufacturing and works closely with specialist trades and crafts people using traditional skills and contemporary techniques in innovative and exciting ways.
Kate is very experienced at running community workshops and consultation and she has an ability to bring together local community groups and schools to work with trades and industry to create artworks.
Kate has trained and mentored other artists in public art and professional development and she has been responsible for producing new guidelines for Public Art Sustainability Assessment
Her positive attitude to a challenge and clear vision ensures that realistic goals are set, achieved and expectations met or exceeded. Her skill as a draftswoman and communicator ensures that complex projects are handled with clarity and work of any scale is approached with the same 'can do' attitude.
